Light activated thermostats can save 30% or more in operating costs over non-programmable thermostats and 15% to 20% more than programmable thermostats. Our light activated thermostat is the least expensive, most featured light activated thermostat on the market today. It's the only thermostat on the market that is not only light activated but can have programmable morning warm up and cool down periods.
The thermostat also has the capability of going into a pre-warm up cool down mode. For example, for an office, you might have the pre-warm up/cool down mode start at 7:30 a.m. each morning with the anticipation that the occupant will arrive at 8:00 a.m. When the person arrives at 8:00 a.m. and turns the lights on, the room will already be at a comfortable temperature and will stay in the occupied comfortable temperature settings until the person turns off the light. If no one arrives at 8:00 a.m. and turns the lights on, then the thermostat will go into unoccupied energy savings mode and stay that way until the next morning.
Just think of the energy savings available in offices where the occupants are away much of the time. It's a fact that people remember to turn the lights off when they leave but seldom remember to turn the heating and air conditioning down. This is true even though the heating and air conditioning is using up to five times as much energy as the lights. This is also a great product for the individuals that want the energy savings available with a programmable stat but don't want to program their thermostats. Turn the lights on and you have comfort settings, turn the lights off and you have unoccupied energy savings. For even more automatic operation, put the lights on a motion detector. Then when you enter the room, the lights turn on and the heating and air conditioning comes on. If you leave the room, then the lights turn off and the heating and air conditioning turns off. This is accomplished with no additional wiring from the thermostat to the motion detector or the lights.
This is a great product for offices, restaurants and retail stores. The following happens over and over again with non-light activated thermostats. But the energy savings with just one occurrence will more than pay for the extra cost of a light activated thermostat.
